1)Why did Leslie die offstage in the movie?
Answer:I feel that the director did not include the scene of how Leslie died so that when the news of Leslie's death is told, the audience will be surprised by the news and will want to know what exactly happened which will 'encourage' them in a way to carry on watching the show hoping to know what exactly happened.

2) (i)Who/What does the Dark Lord represent for Leslie?
Answer:I feel that her Dark Lord is loneliness as on the very day when she moved to her new place, she went to make friends with Jesse although he did not bother about her.Despite his unfriendliness, she continued to stick along with him which made him feel very uncomfortable at the start.

(ii)Who/What does the Dark Lord represent for Jesse?
Answer:I feel that his Dark Lord is not having anyone to pay attention to him as before Leslie appeared in his life,he did not have any friends and being the only boy in his family, his siblings did not bother to understand him and his parents did not spent any time with him which made him felt neglected resulting in him keeping to himself. But all was different when Leslie appeared and spent her free time with him which made him felt uncomfortable and soon,he started to confide in Leslie but he was devastated when he got to know about the news that she had died.

(iii)Who/What does the Dark Lord represent to me?
Answer:I feel that my Dark Lord is the dark side of my father-when he beats me.The first time he beat me was when i was 6 or 7.His beating left me bleeding both physically and emotionally.Since then,i never dared to anger him as i'm afraid he would beat me again.

3)Do you prefer the movie or the novel? Why?
Answer:I prefer the novel as it goes into every small little detail which tells me of what the characters are thinking, what he/she intends to do and many other things.Besides, the novel allows me to imagine of the story's settings which really makes it more interesting for me and allows my imagination to run wild.

1)Why did Leslie die offstage in the movie?
Answer:In my opinion, i feel that Leslie died offstage as the director wanted to end the movie in a more way, reducing the production costs of the movie. It allows us to imagine what exactly happened.

2) (i)Who/What does the Dark Lord represent to Leslie?
Answer:In my opinion,Janice Avery is her Dark Lord as Janice is a bully where she had been bullying kids smaller size then her since young. On the first day of school,Leslie sat on Janice's place in the bus which made Janice very angry with her. Therefore,Leslie is afraid that Janice will bear a grudge towards her and pick on her.

(ii)Who/What does the Dark Lord represent to Jesse?
Answer:In my opinion, her sisters are his Dark Lord as being the only boy in his family, his sisters always pick on him and they may even stop from eating with the excuse that he stinks which makes me pity Jesse as it isn't a good feeling to get bullied.

(iii)In my opinion, darkness is my Dark Lord as since young,i've always been afraid of the dark as it gives me an eerie feeling which never fails to send shivers down my spine.Till now, each night before i fall asleep,i will switch on the lamp situated beside my bed and every night after i sleep,my parents will come in to off the lamp so as to save electricity.

3)Personally,i prefer the movie compared to the novel as it is more detailed and it helps to show what exactly happened in the story which in my opinion,it's better for me as i can have a better understanding of the story compared to reading the novel as there are some things in the novel which i don't understand and watching the movie has helped to clear my understandings.
